£28,551 - £46,044 (Dependent on previous service) per annum and generous benefits package

FTU Scotland is based in Caithness, near the Dounreay Nuclear Site.

Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our role is to provide protective policing for the civil nuclear industry and critical infrastructure, supporting national security and emergency responses.

This role as a CNC National Firearms Instructor (NFI) involves supporting firearms training delivery, coaching tactical and range training, classroom instruction, designing content, lesson prep, and assessments. You will develop and facilitate firearms tactics and weapon handling training for officers at various levels.

We offer three pathways for prospective NFIs:

  • Current and competent National Firearms Instructors from other Police Forces
  • NFIs with recent firearms training delivery experience
  • Police officers with recent operational AFO/ARV or AFO/CT experience willing to complete NFI training

Caithness offers outdoor activities, scenic beaches, the Northern Lights, surfing, and is part of the NC500 drive. Wages are below UK averages, and house prices are affordable. Both Thurso and Wick have airports with good connections.

Requirements include a full manual driving license.
