Job description

Service Engineer – Fire suppression
Location: Field-based (Bristol, Taunton, Cardiff, Newport + 20-mile radius)

Join Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart, healthy and sustainable buildings. We are now hiring Service Engineers to support customers across the UK with service, maintenance and remedial works on fire detection and gas suppression systems. You’ll play a key role in delivering a first-class service to major clients in sectors such as banking, defence, aerospace and data centres.

This is a field-based role. You will work independently and as part of a team, taking responsibility for service quality, customer satisfaction, and health & safety compliance. Typical systems would include Conventional & Addressable fire detection and alarm systems, networked systems, graphics packages, Gas extinguishing systems.

What you’ll do
  • Deliver PPM, service, remedial works & integrity testing on fire detection and gas suppression systems
  • Maintain accurate service records using iPad & service software
  • Drive customer satisfaction, advise on remedial actions & upgrades
  • Comply with QEHS standards and company procedures (RAMS, PPE, toolbox talks, audits)
  • Support continuous improvement, training and technical audits
  • Coach new apprentices and act as key link between customer and line manager
  • Complete required security vetting and screening

What we’re looking for
  • Experience in a service-focused business
  • Strong knowledge of fire detection/protection systems (conventional, addressable, networked)
  • Understanding of gas suppression systems and maintenance
  • Knowledge of fire legislation & standards
  • Full UK driving licence
  • IT literate
  • Integrity testing knowledge (training can be provided)
  • Ideally experience in coaching or leading teams
