Are you passionate about fire safety and eager to contribute to the safety of residents in Bristol? We are looking for two dedicated Fire Safety Officers to join our team at Bristol City Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the council’s statutory duties and ensure the safety of occupants in multi-occupied residential buildings, including low-rise, high-rise, and supported housing.

The Role:

As a Fire Safety Officer, you will play a key part in ensuring Bristol City Council remains compliant with fire safety regulations. Working alongside the Fire Safety Manager, you will manage fire risk assessments, support resident meetings, collaborate with the Fire Service, and help develop compliance management systems.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  1. Reviewing and managing fire risk assessments and associated remedial actions.
  2. Engaging with residents and stakeholders to promote fire safety.
  3. Providing technical fire safety advice and ensuring best practices.
  4. Keeping up-to-date with fire safety legislation and policy changes.
What We’re Looking For:

To be successful in this role, you should have experience in fire safety management, ideally within social housing, and a fire safety-related qualification. You’ll need strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience liaising with the Fire Service.

Essential Requirements:
  1. Fire safety qualification or equivalent.
  2. Experience with fire safety management in a housing context.
  3. Knowledge of fire safety regulations and British Standards.
  4. Strong communication skills to engage with various stakeholders.
Desirable:
  1. Professional membership to IFE or IFSM
  2. Experience in complex organisations.
