Job summary

Hafod Housing Association Limited is seeking a Fire Safety Officer to lead fire safety compliance across all properties and services. You will conduct comprehensive risk assessments and surveys, ensuring premises are safe and compliant with statutory obligations.

You will be the subject matter expert on fire safety, influencing colleagues and the community on best practices for keeping homes safe. Travel across Hafod sites may be required, and a driving licence is needed.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting comprehensive fire risk assessments across multiple sites.

As our dedicated Fire Safety Officer, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, conducting thorough risk assessments and surveys to safeguard our premises. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of the fire safety framework across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity where you’ll be the subject matter expert in fire safety and fire management, influencing the business, our customer and the community, on the importance of keeping homes safe.

You’ll ensure our fire safety policies and procedures for all our properties are fully implemented and compliant with statutory obligations.

This role involves travelling independently across our sites and services as part of day-to-day duties. You may have access to a company vehicle, but for most roles you’ll need to use your own vehicle.

Because of this, you’ll need to hold a full, valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle. If you use your own vehicle for work, you’ll also need appropriate insurance (for example business use).

What you’ll bring

• Strong knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and relevant British Standards relating to fire safety.
• Confident fire safety professional with previous experience conducting comprehensive fire risk assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of providing expert guidance and influencing positive organisational change and the ability to adapt your style for different audiences and build credibility with stakeholders.
• High level of accuracy, with confidence to challenge assumptions and develop creative solutions to improve fire safety.
• Demonstrates empathy, resilience and enthusiasm, with a people-first approach.

Our Health, Safety and Compliance team provides expert advice and support that helps keep our colleagues, customers and communities safe. Working across the organisation, we help managers and teams understand and manage risk, providing the guidance, tools and training they need to work safely and confidently. We also oversee key areas of property and landlord compliance, helping ensure our buildings and services meet the required standards.
