Job summary

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Fire Safety Adviser to join the Health and Safety Team in Nottingham. The role involves supporting cross-site fire safety, delivering specialist training, and leading fire risk assessments in complex healthcare environments.

Flexibility to travel across Trust sites is required, with a focus on maintaining NHS fire safety standards, Firecode compliance, and effective partner collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience of fire risk assessments in complex settings.
• Ability to produce and deliver training with a relevant training qualification.
• Knowledge of Firecode, fire safety legislation and NHS standards.
• Ability to provide specialist support across the Trust on all aspects of fire safety.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the fire safety team, delivering, monitoring and evaluating fire safety activities.
• Promote the Trust’s Fire Safety Team as a centre of excellence.
• Advise on interpretation and application of Firecode and relevant guidance for healthcare premises.
• Advise management on responsibilities under the Fire Policy.
• Investigate fire-related incidents and fire alarm actuations as needed.
• Manage purchasing, siting and maintenance of fire equipment and installations.
• Contribute to capital/revenue project design with fire safety input and site liaison.
• Prepare and implement training for all staff on fire safety and evacuation.
• Undertake fire risk assessments and provide training and guidance to staff.
• Undertake surveys and audits relating to Fire Safety.
• Liaise with Local Fire Authority during inspections.
• Duties reasonably expected of the role.
