With a diverse housing stock and a strong focus on compliance and continuous improvement, we are seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Contract Manager to lead and manage fire safety programmes across their housing portfolio.

Role Overview

As Fire Safety Contract Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fire safety compliance across the local authority s housing stock. You will manage contractors, ensure regulatory standards are met, and lead the delivery of fire risk assessments (FRAs), fire door inspections, and general fire safety works. This is a pivotal role in maintaining the safety of residents and ensuring the council s housing assets meet the highest standards of fire safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and compliance of fire safety programmes across the housing portfolio
  • Manage contracts and performance of external fire safety contractors
  • Oversee the programme management of FRAs, fire door assessments, and remedial works
  • Ensure compliance with current fire safety and building safety legislation, including the Fire Safety Act and Building Safety Act
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on fire safety matters to internal teams and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting systems to demonstrate compliance
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely responses to enforcement actions or recommendations
  • Support the development and implementation of fire safety policies and procedures
  • Manage a Compliance Officer to oversee contract administration or work orders

What We re Looking For

  • Proven experience managing fire safety programmes within a social housing setting
  • A formal fire safety qualification (e.g. CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention, NEBOSH Fire Safety), preferably in addition to being a member of a professional body (e.g. IFE, IFSM)
  • Strong working knowledge of current fire safety and building safety regulations
  • Excellent contract management skills and experience working with external contractors
  • Ability to interpret technical reports and translate findings into actionable programmes
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Highly organised with a proactive approach to compliance and risk management
