Job description

Location: Visits will be required in Leeds, Wakefield, Rotherham, Yorkshire, and Humber

Full time / Permanent

Salary: £45,000 per annum plus car allowance (with potential for negotiation for highly qualified and experienced candidates)

About the Role

As a Fire Risk Surveyor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings and public spaces with fire safety regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments, identify potential fire hazards, and evaluate the associated risks. You will develop and implement effective fire safety plans to mitigate these risks.

You will work closely with clients, providing expert advice on fire safety measures and strategies to prevent fire incidents. Collaboration with fire services, building managers, and surveyors will be essential to ensure fire safety standards are met and maintained. Staying current with fire safety legislation and best practices is also part of your role.

You will deliver fire safety training to employees and stakeholders, ensuring they are well-informed about procedures and emergency responses. Producing detailed reports of your findings and recommendations will be crucial for maintaining compliance with fire safety regulations.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and audits following organisational and regulatory guidelines
  • Identify fire hazards and evaluate associated risks
  • Develop and implement fire safety and action plans
  • Provide fire safety advice to clients verbally and in detailed reports
  • Stay updated on fire safety regulations and guidelines
  • Collaborate with fire services, building managers, and surveyors on fire safety measures
  • Deliver fire safety training to employees and stakeholders
  • Produce comprehensive reports documenting risk assessment findings
Key Criteria
  • Proven experience as a fire risk assessor or in a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments
  • Relevant qualifications such as IFE/FPA accreditation, NEBOSH, or IOSH
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations, e.g., Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to fire safety legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Full UK driving license
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their license for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
