Job Title: Fire Project Manager
Location: Bassingbourn Barracks (mobile role covering East Region)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Company Car/Allowance
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Fire Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in delivering vital fire safety projects across the Defence estate. This is a role where your expertise will have a direct impact on ensuring compliance, safety, and operational effectiveness for sites of national importance.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of projects valued above £25k, managing them from initial scoping through to successful handover.
- Ensure every project meets statutory legislation, MoD requirements, and the highest health, safety, and environmental standards; assess and plan delivery, lead early warning and risk reduction meetings, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to keep projects on track.
- Engage with customers as the focal point for fire project delivery in your area; work with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Heads of Establishments, and other stakeholders to understand operational requirements and ensure that fire safety projects support wider Defence priorities; maintain excellent relationships and clear communication at all stages.
- Maintain commercial awareness by monitoring budgets, maintaining commercial control, and overseeing supply chain performance to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, economically, and on time; provide regular reporting on project milestones, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure value for money.
What You'll Bring
- Significant practical experience in managing multiple projects and contractors.
- Strong IT and administration skills.
- Qualifications in passive fire and fire door inspection.
- A management-level health and safety qualification (e.g. SMSTS).
- Experience supervising site operations, planning and directing teams, and managing resources to achieve results.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Maximo systems.
- Formal project management qualification (APM, Prince2, etc.).
- Familiarity with Defence or government contracts.
