Qualifications

  • Experience in fire maintenance and servicing of life safety equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of British Standards and FIA units.

The Fire Maintenance Engineer will deliver work across SouthWest & SouthEast London.

Role overview:

The purpose of this role is to provide maintenance and servicing of life safety equipment, emergency lighting, and smoke vent systems, in accordance with all current British & European standards, including BS5839 standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide planned and reactive maintenance of contracts
  2. Service and maintain emergency lighting systems
  3. Respond to emergency callouts and carry out remedial works as required
  4. Perform asset verification
  5. Install replacement or additional equipment
  6. Conduct site surveys as needed
  7. Support the development of apprentices
  8. Act professionally and diligently, considering client needs
  9. Participate in call-out rota (1 night in 10)
Required Skills and Experience:
  1. Previous fire maintenance experience
  2. Good understanding of British Standards BS 5839 and BS 5266
  3. FIA units (1, 3, 5)
  4. Valid driving licence
Working Environment:

This is a site-based operational role involving close collaboration with the support service team and engagement with clients. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, combining on-site tasks with ongoing communication with office colleagues. Proactive interaction and liaison with clients are essential to ensure effective communication and excellent customer service.

  • Basic salary £34k - £38k, with opportunities for overtime and standby, leading to a realistic OTE of £50,000 - £65,000
