Your new company
Your new company is a well-known university located in London. They are looking to recruit a Fire, Health & Safety Advisor for a 4-month FTC to support their team and projects. The role reports to the Head of Health & Safety and involves ensuring the Estates and Professional Service Departments meet their legal obligations under the university’s Health and Safety management system and statutory compliance requirements.
Your new role
In this role, you will develop and implement the annual Health and Safety plan for the Estates Department, with regular progress reports.
• Conduct regular health and safety audits using the university’s auditing systems.
• Ensure departments and contractors comply with legislation such as CDM, Working at Height, Asbestos, Legionella, COSHH, PUWER, etc., and maintain records like asbestos registers and water safety testing.
• Provide technical advice on fire safety to ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Building Regulations, and other relevant legislation.
• Carry out, maintain, and review fire risk assessments for all university buildings in compliance with fire safety legislation.
What you'll need to succeed
You should hold a NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Fire Safety qualification. Previous experience in a university or public sector is desirable. Good knowledge of fire safety equipment and systems is essential. Must have the right to work in the UK.
