The role

Orbit is recruiting for a Fire, Health & Safety Advisor, with experience in fire safety practice, to join our team providing vital services to employees, customers, and partners in the South (London/Kent areas).

The Health & Safety Assurance Advisor supports the Health & Building Safety Assurance Lead in implementing and maintaining a Group-wide Health and Safety Management System to ensure legal compliance and sector-leading service. You will also be a fire safety expert, working directly with fire public services to ensure fire safety for our southern properties.

The successful candidate will be based in the South/South East, covering outer London and Southern counties.

This role is part of Corporate Services, supporting colleagues to excel.

What you'll achieve
  1. Attend meetings and audits with Fire Safety Authorities regarding Orbit buildings and discuss or challenge outcomes as appropriate.
  2. Support assurance efforts on CDM and Building Safety compliance, liaising with external agencies like HSE, Fire Authorities, and Environmental Health.
  3. Complete Fire Risk Assessments, audits, and other inspections as required.
  4. Provide advice, guidance, and support on health and safety issues, primarily fire safety, including training for staff.
  5. Review and report on Health & Safety compliance across the organization.
  6. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and attend Health & Safety Committees.
What you'll bring
Essential skills
  • Qualified and competent to undertake Fire Risk Assessments and Inspections, with knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations and standards.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Understanding of current health and safety legislation and standards.
  • Experience in delivering and monitoring H&S activities across multiple sites.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Tech IOSH or equivalent qualification.
