Job summary

Capita is recruiting a Fire Fighting Instructor & Safety Officer to deliver high-quality Royal Navy firefighting training at HMS Excellent, Portsmouth. You will combine hands-on instruction with health and safety duties, working with Royal Navy, MOD and Capita teams to ensure safe, effective training.

The role is full-time at HMS Excellent, Portsmouth, with eligibility for UK Security Clearance at SC level. A salary up to £35,000 is offered depending on experience.

Qualifications

• FFTU Safety Officer experience or equivalent.
• IOSH Working Safely or equivalent.
• Experience in maritime firefighting.

Responsibilities

• Delivering high-quality firefighting and safety training in line with Capita and Royal Navy requirements.
• Preparing training facilities and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for safe and effective training.
• Delivering specialist firefighting courses and practical training to Royal Navy personnel.
• Acting as a Safety Officer alongside your instructor responsibilities.
• Working closely and collaboratively with Royal Navy, MOD and Capita colleagues.
• Supporting and promoting health and safety standards, ensuring relevant policies and procedures are followed.
• Identifying and reporting any safety incidents, risks or concerns and help ensure appropriate measures are in place.

Fire Fighting Instructor / Safety Officer

Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster –Are you passionate about firefighting, safety and developing others? We’re looking for a Fire Fighting Instructor & Safety Officer to play a key role in delivering high-quality Royal Navy firefighting training, while helping to maintain a safe, effective training environment. You’ll combine hands‑on instruction with health and safety responsibilities, working closely with colleagues and MOD teams to support the delivery of vital training.

Job Description

Full‑time role – 40 hours a week, HMS Excellent, Portsmouth, Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you’ll be doing
