Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking an Associate Fire Engineer to lead complex fire engineering projects across a variety of sectors. You will influence design intent, work with clients and internal teams, and ensure financial performance on projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as a fire engineering job-leader on major projects.
• Higher education qualification in engineering or fire safety.
• Delivering fire and life safety designs for UK-based projects.
• Proven ability to secure approvals for prescriptive and performance-based designs.
• Strong people management and line-management experience.
• Excellent commercial and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire engineering projects with the team.
• Inform and support building design aspirations throughout the design process.
• Lead with client care and general consultancy on projects.
• Responsible for financial performance of projects, including invoicing and monitoring.
• Represent Buro Happold Fire Engineering at design team meetings.
• Identify and specify fixed fire protection systems (detection/suppression).
• Carry out and review fire engineering calculations including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis (CFD welcome).
• Support the development of junior members of the fire team (mentor or Line Manager).
