Job Description:

You must be an experienced Fire Engineer with over 5 years post-qualification experience, with a passion for ensuring fire safety across both existing and new-build developments.

Our Client is seeking someone like you to join their dynamic team, leading Fire Risk Assessments and ensuring safety compliance on significant projects across the UK.

** Please note: you must have 5 years experience in the UK construction industry**

This is a hybrid role that combines both on-site and in-house responsibilities. You will play a key role in delivering comprehensive Fire Risk Assessments, including both visual and fully intrusive inspections, while also contributing to the leadership and growth of our team. Effective communication with clients, particularly Local Authorities and Housing Associations, regarding fire safety compliance and regulations, is essential.

What You Must Bring:

  • Minimum 5 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in fire engineering.
  • Proficiency completing Type 1-4 FRAs and understanding compartmentation in projects of varying scales.
  • Hands-on experience with refurbishment and re-cladding projects.
  • Solid knowledge of fire protection systems and ability to advise on fire safety measures.
  • Chartered status or membership of relevant professional bodies:
  • MIFireE (Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers)
  • MIFSM (Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers)
  • C Build E MCABE (Chartered Building Engineer, Member of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers)
  • CEng (Chartered Engineer status).

Skills, Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Coordinate with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct Fire Risk Assessments in compliance with legislation.
  • Provide pragmatic, cost-effective risk mitigation solutions.
  • Lead and develop a small team, applying leadership skills and experience.

General:

  • Meet or exceed client Key Performance Indicators.
  • Develop and maintain a Quality Management System; report project status and update fee projections.
  • Assist in Business Development, cultivating new and existing clients.
  • Assess client’s property stock to understand liabilities.
  • Review fire safety information for buildings and advise on its adequacy.
  • Perform Fire Risk Assessments and compile detailed reports.
  • Provide CPD to clients regarding their fire safety obligations.
  • Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers as needed.
  • Collaborate on cost-effective remedial solutions with project teams.
  • Attend meetings to explain reports and findings to clients/residents.

Remedial Works:

  • Work with the project team to compile ERs.
  • Peer review contractor proposals.
  • Liaise with clerk of works and contractors for compliance checks.
  • Attend site progress meetings when required.
