Job summary

Brandon James Limited is seeking an experienced Fire Engineer to join a growing Bristol team. The role covers residential, commercial, healthcare and mixed-use developments across Bristol and the South West.

You will provide fire engineering advice from concept through to project completion, collaborating with architects and design teams, and preparing fire strategies and technical reports. The role offers hybrid working, ongoing training, and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• A degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience within a fire engineering consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of Approved Document B and relevant British Standards.
• Experience preparing fire strategies and technical reports.
• Good understanding of UK fire safety legislation and Building Regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Membership of the IFE or progress towards professional registration would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Producing and reviewing fire strategies.
• Providing fire engineering input throughout the design process.
• Reviewing architectural drawings and technical specifications.
• Advising on means of escape, compartmentation and fire resistance.
• Supporting projects through Building Regulations approval.
• Attending client and design team meetings.
• Preparing technical reports and fire safety documentation.
• Liaising with Building Control, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Supporting junior members of the fire engineering team where required.
