Job summary

SAFE is hiring a fire engineering consultant in Manchester. The role offers hybrid working with at least two days in the central Manchester office and core hours 10am–4pm.

You will work on a variety of projects, from large logistics buildings to tall and very tall structures, including higher risk buildings, schools and prisons. The package includes a 4-day week, £44,000 salary, up to 8% pension, 29 holidays, and uncapped bonuses.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Fire Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years’ experience in fire engineering or multidisciplinary consultancy.
• Familiarity with UK codes and standards (ADB, BS9991, BS9999, BS7974).

Responsibilities

• Manage projects and liaise directly with clients.
• Contribute to the commercial side of the business.
• Work across diverse projects including tall buildings, hotels, schools and prisons.

Job description

We are currently hiring for a fire engineering consultant.

We are a commercially minded fire engineering consultancy who pride ourselves on providing practical solutions to our client’s problems.

SAFE was founded in 2026 and you would be part of a small, fast-growing team. This means you will be exposed to responsibility and opportunities early in your career you might not get at larger businesses, including managing your own projects, dealing directly with clients and the commercial side of the business.

This role is hybrid working with at least two days a week in our central Manchester office.We operate flexible working with core hours of 10am to 4pm.

You would be working on a wide variety of projects and our current work includes:

• Large logistics buildings
• New buildings for well known hotel brands.
• Tall and Very Tall buildings including Higher Risk Buildings
• New school and prison buildings
• Assisting solicitors with litigation.

We aim to be a great place to work and will provide the following salary and benefits:

• 4-day, 32 hour, working week as standard for all staff with no reduction in pay.
• Salary starting at £44,000 per annum.
• Hybrid Working as standard.

To be considered for this role you should have the following:

1. Master’s degree in one of the following subjects or similar:
2. Fire Engineering
3. Mechanical, Aerospace or Structural/Civil Engineering
4. Physics
5. 2+ years’ experience working in a fire engineering or multidisciplinary consultancy
6. Experience with common UK codes and standards including the ADB, BS9991, BS9999 and BS7974
7. Excellent written and spoken English
8. You must have the right to work in the UK
