Job description

Job Title: Mobile Fire Door Technician

A vacancy has arisen for a practical and self-motivated individual to work as a Mobile Fire Door Technician. The role involves carrying out reactive, PPM, remedial, and installation works across the south of England in commercial premises. The technician will liaise and coordinate with approved contractors and must have a good understanding of Fire Door Services, be well-presented, and capable of providing technical advice when required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Carry out reactive maintenance repairs across various contracts.
  2. Assess and order parts and equipment necessary for tasks.
  3. Work to recognised industry standards at all times.
  4. Participate in flexible working hours and out-of-hours emergency cover as required.
  5. Undertake training, including health and safety courses and trade development, to maintain professional qualifications (CPD).
  6. Assist other trades as required.
  7. Update and close completed Reactive & PPM tasks on the CAFM System.
  8. Maintain engineering standards to ensure efficient operation and reliability of plant.
  9. Adhere to company QA and site procedures.
  10. Follow Client and company Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  11. Inspect services and proactively handle call outs/repairs as needed.
  12. Attend emergencies outside of normal working hours.
  13. Maintain all company-issued tools in safe and working condition.
  14. Carry out inspections, maintenance, and installation of fire doors.
  15. Provide detailed reports for remedial works and update on-site log books for compliance.
  16. Complete necessary certificates and documentation for completed works.
  17. Prepare on-site Method Statements and Risk Assessments as needed.
  18. Perform other duties as directed by managers within the role's scope.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
  • Recognised trade qualification or apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of building fabric services.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Presentable appearance and good communication skills.
  • Availability for call outs.
  • Proficiency with smartphones and PDAs.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and follow instructions.
  • Self-motivated and flexible with work hours, including weekends and evenings.
