Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Passive Fire Protection, Inspection, Remedials, and Project Management.
  • Previous Approved Person appointment is advantageous.
  • Fire Safety Certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CFPA Europe) are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage up to 3 direct reports supporting 20 Fire Door Inspectors after 12 months.
  • Sign off certification on behalf of the company under UKAS accreditation.

Job Description:

Job Purpose: Providing support for Fire Door and Compartmentation activities as a Subject Matter Expert for EMCOR UK. Engagement with Supply Chain Partners for inspection, remedial, project, and installation works. Evaluating competency of those self-delivering Fire Door Inspection services and remedial works. Adopting the role of Approved Person under EMCOR Fire & Security’s UKAS accredited scheme.

Duties:

  • Achieve and maintain 3rd party certification to a UKAS accredited scheme in Passive Fire Protection for EMCOR Fire & Security and participate in all compliance audits.
  • Assist the Fire & Security Director in identifying approved Supply Chain Partners (SCPs) for inspections, remedial works, and projects across the UK.
  • Support Account Managers and Directors in implementing compliant fire door and compartmentation inspections.
  • Validate inspection failures and engage with SCPs to support remedial schedules.
  • Participate in site reviews, meetings, and provide input, advice, and guidance.
  • Utilize expertise to advise and guide account teams, customers, and relevant parties before project works and assist in quotations.
  • Provide expertise during remedial and installation projects, review, and sign off works.
  • Develop and maintain procedures in accordance with relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Assist in expanding the Fire & Security division to include Fire Door Inspections.
  • Assess and audit the competency of Fire Door Inspectors.
  • Manage passive fire safety records and certifications.
  • Stay updated with emerging fire safety legislation and standards.
  • Act as SME on Fire Doors and Fire Compartmentation, providing input to EMCOR’s Compliance and Governance teams.
  • Advise Projects Teams to ensure project compliance with standards.
  • Build internal relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Assist in creating quotations, tenders, and support business development.
  • Support operational requirements of the Fire & Security division.

Responsibilities:

  • Potentially manage up to 3 direct reports supporting 20 Fire Door Inspectors after 12 months.
  • Sign off certification on behalf of EMCOR under UKAS accreditation.
  • Control of SCPs delivering Fire Door and Compartmentation services.

Person Specification:

  • Strong knowledge of UK fire safety laws and regulations.
  • Detailed knowledge of Building Safety regulations, especially Approved Document B.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Passive Fire Protection, Inspection, Remedials, and Project Management.
  • Qualifications: FDIS Cert FDI, BM Trada Lead Auditor, or equivalent.
  • Previous Approved Person appointment is advantageous.
  • Fire Safety Certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CFPA Europe) are advantageous.
  • Membership of fire safety professional bodies (e.g., IFSM, IFE) is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work with customers, regulatory bodies, and fire engineers.
  • Attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Other Factors:

  • Willingness to travel and stay away occasionally across the UK.
