Job summary

Honeywell Technologies seeks an experienced Fire Alarm Design Engineer to deliver compliant fire detection and alarm designs across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects in the UK. You will produce designs, layouts, calculations and technical documentation in line with client requirements and regulatory standards.

The role involves coordinating with MEP and architectural teams, reviewing client needs, and supporting design reviews and approvals.

Qualifications

• Designs in line with BS 5839 and relevant standards.
• Demonstrates knowledge of fire alarm layouts, zoning plans and equipment schedules.
• Willingness to coordinate with MEP, architectural and specialist teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed fire alarm system designs in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant standards.
• Produce fire alarm layouts, cause and effect matrices, zoning plans and equipment schedules.
• Prepare design calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Review client requirements and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
• Support design reviews, technical submissions and approvals processes.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders during design.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and project delivery stages.
• Attend design coordination meetings and site visits as necessary.
• Experience with Gent fire alarm systems is highly desirable.

We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of fire detection and alarm systems across a range of commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing compliant fire alarm designs, drawings, calculations and technical documentation in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements.

• Develop detailed fire alarm system designs in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant standards.
• Produce fire alarm layouts, cause and effect matrices, zoning plans and equipment schedules.
• Prepare design calculations, specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary project teams including MEP, architectural and specialist systems designers.
• Review client requirements and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
• Support design reviews, technical submissions and approvals processes.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and project stakeholders throughout the design phase.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and project delivery stages where required.
• Participate in design coordination meetings and attend site visits as necessary.
• Experience with Gent fire alarm systems is highly desirable.
• FIA Advanced Design Qualification preferred.
• BAFE accreditation or demonstrable experience working within BAFE-certified environments preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD for layouts and schematics preparation.
• Some exposure to Navisworks for BIM coordination and design development is desirable
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, healthcare, data centre, transportation or infrastructure projects.
