Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking experienced Fire Damper Testers and Installers for permanent roles with national coverage. The majority of work will be in London, with travel to sites across the UK and paid accommodation when away from home.

Responsibilities include inspecting, testing and maintaining fire and smoke dampers, performing drop testing, installing dampers and completing remedial works, while keeping accurate reports and complying with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous fire damper testing/installation experience.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationally and stay away when required.
• CSCS card or SKILLcard.
• Attention to detail and reporting.

Fire Damper Testers & Installers – Tech 1 and Tech 2

National Coverage – Majority of Work in London

We are recruiting experienced Fire Damper Testers and Installers for permanent roles covering projects across the UK.

Although these are national positions requiring regular travel and overnight stays, the majority of the work will be based in London. Travel expenses and accommodation will be paid when working away from home.

The Role

• Inspect, test and maintain fire and smoke dampers
• Carry out drop testing and reset dampers after inspection
• Install new fire dampers and complete remedial works
• Identify defects, damage and non-compliant installations
• Check access panels, penetration seals and surrounding fire-stopping
• Accurately record test results, defects and photographic evidence
• Complete site reports and update asset-management systems
• Work in accordance with relevant standards and manufacturers’ instructions
• Follow all site health and safety procedures

Tech 1

Suitable for candidates with experience in fire damper testing, ventilation, ductwork or passive fire who can work effectively as part of a team.

Tech 2

Suitable for experienced technicians who can independently test, install and complete remedial works on fire and smoke dampers. Candidates should be confident identifying defects and producing accurate compliance reports.

Requirements

• Previous fire damper testing, installation or remedial experience
• Knowledge of fire and smoke damper systems
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel nationally and stay away when required
• CSCS card or relevant SKILLcard
• Strong attention to detail and reporting skills
• BESA DW145 training or equivalent would be advantageous
• IPAF, PASMA, Asbestos Awareness and Working at Height are desirable
