Job summary

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) is seeking a proactive Fire & Building Safety Officer to join our Property Compliance team in Rochdale. You will help ensure fire and building safety compliance across our homes, coordinating inspections, risk assessments and remedial works with contractors and regulators.

You will contribute to Building Safety Cases and the Golden Thread, manage contractor performance, and provide specialist advice to meet statutory obligations.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate (Level 3) or willingness to work towards.
• Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment/Fire Protection qualification or willingness to work towards.
• HNC or Degree in Building Surveying, Construction or related discipline, or willingness to work towards.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
• IFE/IFSM or IOSH membership would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor Fire Risk Assessments and ensure actions completed on time.
• Conduct fire and building safety inspections across properties.
• Develop and maintain Building Safety Cases and the Golden Thread of information.
• Manage remedial works and monitor contractor performance.
• Support delivery of fire and building safety projects from inception to completion.
• Carry out Person-Centred Fire Risk Assessments and assist with Evacuation Plans where required.
• Investigate defects and work with contractors to resolve issues promptly.
• Produce reports, compliance information and performance data for managers and regulators.
• Liaise with customers and external agencies to promote safety culture.
• Support policy development and compliance assurance activities.
