About Our Customer
Our customer is an established fire and security business with a varied engineering operation covering installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance. They are looking for an experienced engineer who can work across multiple fire and security disciplines while providing a professional service to customers across the North West.
Salary and Benefits - Fire and Security Service & Installation Engineer
- Salary up to £38,000 depending on experience.
- 37.5 hour working week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30 with a 30 minute lunch break.
- Travel time paid at single time after the first 30 minutes.
- Company van provided, suitable for carrying the equipment required for the role.
- Fuel card supplied.

Key Responsibilities - Fire and Security Service & Installation Engineer
- Install, commission, service and maintain a range of fire and electronic security systems.
- Diagnose faults and complete reactive repairs, planned maintenance and emergency call-outs.
- Interpret specifications, drawings and supporting documentation to plan installation and service works effectively.
- Carry out minor remedial works during planned maintenance visits where authorised.
- Complete electronic job sheets, service documentation, timesheets and mileage or expense records accurately.
- Keep system logbooks updated with details of completed works while ensuring systems are left operational wherever possible.
- Provide technical support to colleagues and assist with site attendance when required.
- Identify potential upgrade or additional works and pass relevant opportunities to the operations team.
- Maintain clear communication with the helpdesk, supervisors and customers regarding progress, delays and any issues affecting attendance.
- Work safely and in accordance with relevant health, safety, security, environmental and technical requirements.
- Support the development of less experienced engineers through practical guidance and technical mentoring.
- Attend relevant training and engineer meetings to maintain and develop technical knowledge.
Skills and experience - Fire and Security Service & Installation Engineer
- 2 to 5 years' experience within the fire and security industry.
- Practical experience installing, testing, commissioning and servicing fire alarm, intruder, CCTV and access control systems.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability, with a logical approach to resolving technical problems.
- Good working knowledge of relevant BS and EN standards.
- Able to read specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic job management systems.
- Experience programming and working with established fire and security system platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to complete accurate service, installation and call-out documentation.
- Organised and capable of managing workload and time effectively while working independently.
- Full UK driving licence.
