Job summary

A leading facilities management provider is seeking a Fire Alarm Installation Engineer to undertake the installation of Fire and Security systems. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in similar roles, knowledge of relevant fire standards, and the necessary electrical qualifications. Responsibilities include ensuring safe working practices, managing project delivery, and maintaining strong client relationships. Qualifications

Job description

Fire Alarm Installation Engineer

Location: Southampton and surrounding area. Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum + overtime. Hours: 0800-1700, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.

Job Purpose

To undertake the installation of large and small Fire (Detection Alarms, Aspirating, PA/VA, & FT/DR) & Security (Access Control, CCTV, ANPR, & IDS) systems with the quality of an experienced electrician.

Responsibilities

• Conduct yourself in a safe and professional manner in occupied premises with good communication skills to ensure works are delivered to the customer and employer's satisfaction.
• Experience and knowledge of Fire & Security systems is beneficial, and a desire to learn new technical skills with a dynamic approach is key.
• Installation of Fire & Security equipment and associated cabling, and containment to the relevant British Standard and compliant with governing authorities.
• Installation of fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with BS5839pt1 2025 and BRE /LPS1014 installation rules.
• Ownership and accountability to deliver projects from start through to handover. Manage resources, materials, and plant effectively and ensure documentation is kept up to date.
• Actively look for improvements and enhancements to provide best customer delivery and ultimately increase EMCOR’s scope through instructed variations.
• Provide weekly progress reports to Line Manager, as and when required.
• Attend toolbox talks and training courses that EMCOR deems necessary.
• Ensure tasks are delivered in line with contractual requirements and maintain a strong working relationship with the client.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and standards in order to uphold contract integrity.
• Comply with EMCOR Safe Working Procedures and promote a positive Health & Safety culture.
• Complete mandatory paperwork for weekly/monthly activities before the deadline.
• Be prepared to work outside normal working hours for durations as required where site restrictions apply.
• All works to be completed in accordance with the relevant British Standard and good working practices.
• Complete documentation required under LPS 1014 and NSI Gold accreditations.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within a similar role or environment.
• Educated to GCSE level with City & Guilds or equivalent in installation of electronic equipment.
• City and Guilds 236 pts 1&2 electrical installation or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Electrical qualification.
• Proven experience working in industrial environments.
• Valid full driving licence, preferably clean.
• A team player with the ability to work from their own initiative.
• Prepared to work additional hours if and when reasonably requested.
• Proven knowledge of relevant Fire standards BS 5839 Pt 1 — 2025, BS 6266 Pt 1 — 2013, BS 7273 Standards, trained to FIA standards Units 1 (Fire Detection Design), Unit 4 (Installation and Testing).
