Job summary

Approach Personnel Ltd in Leeds is seeking a Fire Alarm Engineer for a freelance contract. The role involves installing and testing conventional or addressable fire alarm panels, detectors and sounders, and performing regular PPM checks to ensure system reliability and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of BS 5839 standards, possess an ECS or CSCS card, understand electrical circuits and blueprints, and hold a UK driving licence. The contract runs up to 1 year with daily pay.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of BS 5839-1 or BS 5839-6.
• ECS or CSCS card required.
• Understanding of electrical circuits, wiring and reading system blueprints.
• UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Set up new conventional or addressable fire alarm panels, detectors and sounders, then test them before they go live.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks to keep existing systems reliable and compliant.
• Diagnose system errors, locate wiring or component issues, and replace faulty hardware.

Fire Alarm Engineer - Leeds - Freelance Contract

Approach Personnel are proud to be partnered with a nationwide fire compliance and social housing contractor, who are currently looking for a Fire Alarm Engineer to join them on a freelance contract that could last upto 1 year.

The contract can be started ASAP for the right individual and we will be looking to pay between £210-£230 per day.

Key Requirements:

• Good Understanding of either BS 5839-1 or BS 5839-6.
• ECS Card or CSCS Card.
• Good understanding of electrical circuits, wiring, and how to read system blueprint.
• UK's Driving License

Key Responsibilities:

• Setting up new conventional or addressable fire alarm panels, detectors, and sounders, then testing them before they go live.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks to keep existing systems reliable and compliant.
• Diagnosing system errors, tracking down wiring or component issues, and replacing broken hardware.
