On the Accounts Payable team within Finance Operations (FinOps), you will find yourself working with multi-talented people committed to driving financial improvement, scalability, and process excellence. To support the growth of businesses at Amazon, this candidate must possess a passion for accountability, setting high standards, raising the bar, and driving results through constant focus on improving existing and future operations, systems, and processes. The candidate will be able to think strategically to create a long-term plan, while also having strong tactical skills to drive day-to-day implementation. They should learn quickly and be willing to experiment with new ideas.

This role on the Accounts Payable team will manage a team of 20+ and drive operations to achieve key goals, perform deep dives, and contribute to process improvements. The role requires complex problem-solving skills, managing multiple high-visibility priorities, and maintaining keen attention to detail in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Managing Accounts Payable finance operations with a team of 20+
  2. Performing deep dives and contributing to process improvements
  3. Driving operations to achieve key goals
  4. Representing operations in leadership calls
  5. Coordinating with multiple teams—Tech, Product, and Business Partnering teams
  6. Managing process and operational escalations
  7. Resolving critical vendor issues and supporting process/system deep dives to identify root causes and implement corrections for improved customer experience
  8. Negotiating efficient processes and policies across partner teams to eliminate dependencies and defects
  9. Collaborating with Business Partnering teams & businesses to set operational goals for improvements
  10. Identifying and evaluating financial and operational risks and opportunities, driving ad-hoc projects as needed
Basic qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in the corporate world
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams, work cross-functionally, and build consensus on difficult issues
  • Managerial skills to handle problems and crises confidently and decisively
  • Ability to make difficult decisions, take calculated risks, and experiment with new approaches
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • 6+ years of people management experience
  • 4+ years in finance and accounting roles
  • 6+ years of Accounts Payable experience
  • 6+ years applying KPIs to analyses
  • 5+ years creating process improvements with automation and analysis
  • 5+ years participating in continuous improvement projects to enhance controllership with measurable results
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business, or Master's in related fields
Preferred qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, root cause analysis, and creating escalation plans
  • 5+ years solving complex business challenges with financial models, analysis, and impactful recommendations
  • MBA or CPA certifications
  • Knowledge of Advanced Excel, SQL/ETL
  • Experience with large-scale data mining/reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience with forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and data interpretation
