Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub-based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to attend OVO Connection events in person.

The Infrastructure & Enablement team plays a vital role in OVO's success, supporting our goal to achieve Carbon Zero through cloud-native platforms, resilient infrastructure, and efficient engineering solutions. As the FinOps Lead, you'll ensure value for money and innovation in our cloud infrastructure, working closely with engineering teams to embed cost-conscious practices that support our sustainability goals.

This role in a nutshell:

The FinOps Lead drives financial efficiency across our multi-cloud environment, blending technical expertise with financial acumen to optimize cloud spending, automate cost-saving solutions, and promote a culture of cost-awareness among engineering teams. This includes ensuring the correct and efficient use of cloud technologies to reduce waste and energy consumption, contributing to our carbon reduction efforts.

Your key outcomes will be:

• Lead analysis and management of cloud spend across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
• Develop strategies to optimize cloud costs, including waste identification, rightsizing, and leveraging discount programs like GCP's CUDs and AWS Savings Plans.
• Collaborate with finance and leadership to create accurate cost forecasts and budgets for cloud services.
• Forecast long-term cloud usage and costs.

Operational & Programmatic Solutions:

• Create and maintain automated dashboards and reports for real-time visibility into engineering costs.
• Partner with SRE and development teams to embed cost optimization into development and infrastructure pipelines.
• Implement programmatic solutions for FinOps challenges, such as automated shutdowns and self-service cost monitoring tools.
• Track budgets and detect anomalies.

Education & Culture:

• Act as a FinOps evangelist, educating teams on financial impacts of technical decisions.
• Define and document best practices for resource tagging, management, and governance.
• Engage with cloud providers on new services, pricing, and optimization opportunities.
• Work with procurement and legal on contracts, renewals, and consolidations.
