Job description

We're looking for a financial systems analyst to join our Finance Technology & Information team. You'll utilize your customer service, server/network and end-user information technology expertise to support the daily operations of the division's financial systems.

In this role, you'll be responsible for a variety of functions relating to the systems and business needs of the Corporate Finance, Finance Operations, and Procurement Services departments and their internal clients. We develop and ensure compliance with the organization's financial reporting policies, internal control policies, provide innovative methods to deliver health care solutions to injured workers, and manage payments to vendors and employees.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position. The successful candidate will be working 2 days per week at our Richmond office.

What you'll do
  • Maintain the existing financial systems for the departments in Finance, including but not limited to identifying and preparing system access requests for data steward approval, preparing server/network folder security requests for data steward approval, managing finance SharePoint sites, and developing and enhancing supplementary tools for automating and implementing small solutions
  • Generate and publish business reports and maintain existing reporting inventory and tools
  • Participate in identifying the impact of upcoming changes on the current business software environment
  • Assist in recognizing business issues and processing opportunities for clients, and making business and systems-based recommendations
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.
Is this a good fit for you?

We're looking for people who can:

  • Understand and support the functions of a financial system and perform configuration and day-to-day troubleshooting of a financial system application
  • Use network and desktop tools to solve day-to-day problems (e.g., MS Access, MS Excel, SQL, Active Directory tools, Reporting products)
  • Apply knowledge of general accounting principles and/or business processes to the areas of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or purchasing
  • Take initiative in identifying and initiating tasks
  • Approach work collaboratively

Your background and experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (MS Access, MS Excel, Outlook mail/calendar, reporting tools)
  • Knowledge of server/network or other folder accesses
