Job description

As one of the world's largest networks of audit, tax, and consulting firms, RSM delivers innovative ideas and premium services to help middle-market businesses thrive. We are a fast-growing firm with ambitious goals to become the premier adviser to the middle market globally. Our vision motivates us to improve continually, offering opportunities for those looking to build a future and make an impact.

Make an Impact at RSM UK

Our consulting team combines diverse advisory experts to deliver six core solutions: business transformation, forensic, deal services, restructuring, finance function support, and risk and governance. These solutions address our clients' unique needs, challenges, and opportunities, whether supporting global expansion, developing acquisition strategies, facilitating private equity investments, or collaborating with boards on risk and governance. We focus on simplicity, providing data-driven insights, value-added assurance, and high-quality execution to empower our clients.

Joining our consulting team now means engaging in our growth plans, which include enhancing our six solutions, expanding our team, adopting a digital-first approach, strengthening our global presence, and building strong client relationships.

As an Associate Director in the Regulatory Practice of Financial Services, you will lead and manage a team alongside Partners, Directors, and Managers to ensure the delivery of high-quality client requirements aligned with RSM standards. Your role includes supporting business development activities such as writing proposals, presentations, and thought leadership, as well as managing and developing your team. The position requires participation in meetings outside of core hours.

You will make an impact by:

  • Managing a Financial Services team to deliver timely, high-quality advisory services at client sites as needed.
  • Leading and managing an agreed client portfolio within the service line and region.
  • Approving and preparing strategy documentation supported by fully costed service proposals for approval.
  • Participating in and leading business development efforts to grow the firm’s Financial Services practice.
  • Building the discipline and ensuring the team provides exceptional client advisory services.
  • Overseeing client programs to ensure completion within time and budget, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Planning and optimizing team utilization and profitability.
  • Monitoring work quality through senior manager reviews.
  • Engaging with client billing processes and addressing potential issues to meet billing and recovery targets.
  • Handling team matters such as performance feedback, appraisals, recruitment, welfare, and H&S.
  • Building relationships with new clients and identifying additional work opportunities.

What we are looking for:

Are you someone who thrives on variety, loves learning, and enjoys connecting with people? If you can identify inefficiencies and are passionate about improvements, this role is ideal for you. We value diverse experiences and perspectives. Our ideal candidate:

  • Has strong regulatory experience with a proven track record;
  • Is dynamic, ambitious, proactive, and experienced in a leading professional services firm or large in-house function;
  • Has a proactive attitude and can manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively;
  • Has experience in business development, including tender processes and proposition design;
  • Possesses knowledge of the financial services market and regulatory bodies;
  • Is willing to travel to client sites, limited to approximately one and a half hours each way;
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of adding value and driving change.

What we can offer you:

We recognize our people as our most valuable asset. Our flexible rewards and benefits package includes:

  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements;
  • 27 days of holiday, with options to purchase additional days;
  • Wellbeing benefits, including financial tools, electric car schemes, and access to a virtual GP;
  • Access to over 300 on-demand courses developed by our Talent Development team.
