BDO UK is seeking an Operations and Resourcing Assistant to join our audit resourcing team. The role focuses on allocating and prioritising resourcing needs for the Financial Services Audit department, handling day-to-day requests, and managing multiple stakeholders across study paths.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manipulate and interpret data and Management information.
  • Experience in a resourcing role or an interest in resourcing.
  • Experience in the professional services industry or a similar corporate environment is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Resourcing coordination to action resourcing request and changes on DayShape.
  • Day-to-day requests of team managers regarding resourcing allocation, prioritisation, managing of college, study, exam and training time as well as annual leave and CSR days.
  • Working closely with the Professional Qualifications team to understand professional qualification requirements across multiple study paths.
  • Actioning ad-hoc change requests in a timely and prioritised manner.
  • Assisting with a range of operational duties within Financial Services Audit with a focus on resourcing coordination.
  • Collaborating with the Resourcing Manager and team to support local management and ensure smooth operation of Financial Services Audit.
  • Challenging requests for amendments to resource planning and establishing clear policies for staff and trainee resource use including offshore.
  • Monitoring metrics such as utilisation and identifying initiatives to maintain trainee engagement.
  • Providing support for audited entity initiatives and ensuring a positive impression at touch points.

The resourcing team are responsible for not just ensuring optimum resource allocation and utilisation but also providing timely and accurate management information to various stakeholders by identifying shortfalls, booking clashes and inefficiencies to help in contingency planning and risk mitigation.

The role of Operations and Resourcing Assistant will focus on the allocation and prioritisation of resourcing needs for the audit department including editing resourcing requests from multiple stakeholders across the Financial Services Audit team. The role will include day-to-day tasks, project work and ad hoc requests. The role is an important part of Financial Services Audit team to provide an efficient, effective and professional resourcing coordination model to the team to deliver quality output.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Resourcing coordination to action resourcing request and changes on DayShape
  • Day-to-day requests of team managers regarding resourcing allocation, prioritisation, managing of college, study, exam and training time as well as annual leave and CSR days
  • Working closely with the Professional Qualifications team to ensure a clear understanding of the professional qualification requirements across multiple study paths
  • Actioning ad-hoc change requests in a timely, effective and prioritised approach
  • Assisting with a range of operational duties within Financial Services Audit. Activities are likely to be varied with a key focus on resourcing coordination within the FS Operations team
  • Working closely with the Resourcing Manager and existing team to support local management and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Financial Services Audit
  • Challenging requests for amendments to resource planning and putting clear policies in place for the use of staff and trainee resource including specialisms and use of offshore
  • Identifying solutions to manage resourcing conflicts/clashes effectively, liaising with the relevant Managers in a timely manner
  • Working with the Resourcing Manager to closely monitor metrics such as utilisation and to identify initiatives to maintain positive levels of trainee engagement
  • Providing an exceptional audited entity experience and support audited entity initiatives within the firm, as well as being responsive and helping to create a positive impression at all touch points
You’ll be someone with:
  • Previous office-based experience preferable
  • Experience working in a resourcing role preferable, or an interest in / awareness of what a resourcing role involves
  • Experience in the professional services industry or a similar corporate environment, beneficial but not essential
  • Previous experience of DayShape or Workday, beneficial but not essential
  • The ability to manipulate and interpret data and Management information
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate / build strong relationships with a number of key senior, partner stakeholders
