We’re looking for a highly proactive, enthusiastic and commercially-minded Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to join our Financial Reporting team and help build a world-class finance function. This role is well suited to a fully qualified Chartered Accountant with an audit background.

Key challenges include system implementations, expanding into the European Union, climate change reporting, growing our customer base and lending business, and enhancing our marketplace. You’ll work on scaling Monzo in a controlled way and help optimise our financial reporting processes with technology. You’ll report to our Senior Financial Reporting Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Understand our accounting system and maximise its features to minimise manual reporting elements.
  • Maintain up-to-date, scalable financial reporting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Support the full year-end process, from drafting the annual report to working with external auditors through final sign-off.
  • Review new products, assess accounting implications, and implement them in our banking platform and accounting system.
  • Assess the impact of changes in accounting standards and propose accounting policies for new products.
  • Maintain and develop controls to protect financial data and the balance sheet substantiation process.
  • Assist with implementing a new accounting system to minimise manual reporting elements.
  • Support ESG sustainability reporting and disclosures.
  • Prepare monthly management and ad-hoc reports with meaningful analysis of movements.
  • Review and assess accounting impact of new contracts with business and legal teams to establish correct accounting treatment.
  • Support a swift month-end close process in collaboration with the internal finance team.
  • Respond to inquiries and support forecasting, valuations, bank transfers and tax policy research as needed.
  • Role requires: ACA/CA qualification with audit background; ideally some experience in financial reporting and control outside practice; interest in banking and regulatory landscape; strong financial controls understanding; self-starter and capable of translating complex information for diverse audiences; proficiency with data (SQL a plus); ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Nice to have
  • Experience in a listed company or financial services regulated environment.
  • US reporting/SOX compliance.
  • Strong business partnering/commercial financial acumen.
  • ESG reporting/audit of sustainability information (carbon footprint, CFD/CSRD).
What’s in it for you
  • Role based in our London office with a hybrid approach (team in the office twice a week, usually Tue/Wed). Distributed UK working is possible with occasional London meetings.
  • Flexible working hours and trust to manage your workload.
  • £1,000 learning budget each year for books, courses and conferences.
  • MacBook provided; remote workers receive additional support for home setup.
