ROLE LOCATION
This role will be based in our office in Southampton with Mondays and Fridays working from home.
BASIC PURPOSE
This position requires a technically strong and diligent professional to manage and deliver all aspects of our financial reporting, including statutory accounting responsibilities and VAT reporting requirements for our subsidiary entities across the EMEA region, whilst working within a fast-paced environment.
You will continue to develop the external reporting, working closely alongside our advisors and the General Accounting team, to ensure all reporting deadlines are met and to the high standard expected.
In addition, you will provide support on corporation tax related matters, including managing tax payments, reviewing corporation tax returns for accuracy to the annual accounts and liaising with our Tax department and advisors.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare the results and financial position for each subsidiary entity accurately and timely, working closely alongside our advisors and the General Accounting team.
- Prepare year-end accounts packs, including all disclosure information and working papers.
- Manage and review the preparation of annual accounts, supported by our local advisors in each country.
- Responsible for gathering and reviewing all financial data and analysis.
- Responsible for lease accounting, including maintaining a schedule of US vs local GAAP reporting differences.
- Responsible for financial reporting of share-based payments.
- Manage and coordinate the UK interim and final audits, acting as key point of contact.
- Collate all SECR disclosure reporting information, working closely alongside the ESG team.
- Statutory adjustment entries to be prepared and recorded in a timely manner.
- Responsible for assisting in country specific requirements to provide & file the accounting books & records each year.
- Assist with the preparation of Board meeting minutes and supporting documentation.
- Identify opportunities for further improvement and efficiency.
- Monitor and advise of new accounting standards, reporting requirements & upcoming issues relevant to our activities.
- Provide ongoing support to the General Accounting team on any technical accounting related matters.
- Responsible for accurate posting of accounting entries relating to VAT, corporation tax and withholding tax and completion of those monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with bank payment & other approvals within Accounting department as and when required.
- General compliance reporting including Office for National Statistics returns.
- Responsible for maintaining and evaluating Out of Period adjustments & Post Close Open Entries.
- Review & provide primary cover with the CAA/ABTA returns.
- Responsible for managing VAT, including accurate and timely submission of all VAT returns and ongoing compliance.
- Manage other VAT compliance reporting requirements as necessary (weekly, monthly, quarterly & annual).
- Manage VAT refunds and the VAT credit process in Italy.
- Monitor future VAT developments that could impact the business.
- Coordinate the development of our systems & processes to handle Continuous Transaction Controls (CTCs).
- Coordinate with local advisors on all tax and vat related matters.
- Assist and provide guidance on any VAT related enquiries received from internal team members.
- Manage foreign VAT annual reclaims as required.
- Responsible for the withholding tax reporting process on vendor invoices in Italy & Spain.
- Manage tax provision estimates based on latest forecasts available and review corporation tax returns for accuracy.
- Manage corporation tax payments and refunds.
- Prepare tax analysis schedules and information to external advisors as required.
- Assistance with tax investigations, audits or adhoc requests.
- Any other tasks that may be reasonably requested.
EXPERIENCE
- Ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with an auditing background that has substantial experience and is comfortable in the preparation of financial accounts.
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of accounting practices, standards and regulations.
- Financial reporting experience within Italy, Spain or Germany would be an advantage, but not necessary.
- Good understanding of VAT and practical experience.
- Corporation tax knowledge & understanding
- Withholding tax experience preferred, but not necessary.
