Job summary

Nomad Digital, based in Newcastle upon Tyne with a hybrid working model, seeks an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to lead financial, VAT, and regulatory reporting across the group. You will drive improvements, oversee statutory accounts, manage audits, and support treasury and cash management with external advisors.

You will have 5+ years PQE, strong technical accounting, ERP (NetSuite) experience, and ACA/ACCA or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 5+ years post qualification experience.
• 3+ years in a senior finance manager role.
• Proficient in financial accounting and technical accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite an advantage).
• Knowledge of international financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for financial, tax and regulatory reporting of group entities.
• Review and support integrity of the group’s accounting records and systems.
• Manage tax reporting and payments (VAT, income tax) across entities.
• Oversee VAT returns and EC sales lists across countries.
• Oversee statutory accounts process across entities and branches.
• Lead external audits and ensure timely, accurate delivered information.
• Own and enhance balance sheet reconciliation process.
• Drive working capital management (stock, debtors, cash).
• Manage relationships with internal/external auditors and tax advisers.
• Oversee transfer pricing journals and cross-border tax matters.
• Drive FX policy and treasury controls.

To ensure financial and statutory compliance across all Group entities and branches, drive process and internal control improvements across the Group and support with corporate finance projects. we're looking for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to join our Global Finance team based in Newcastle upon Tyne (Hybrid).

Previous Tax and VAT reporting experience is essential for this role.

Essential duties:

• Overall responsibility for financial and tax and compliance and regulatory reporting of the group entities.
• To review and support the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and financial systems
• To work with the Alstom Tax Team and external advisors to regularly manage tax reporting and payments for all entities including income tax and VAT to determined regulatory timeframes.
• To oversee the preparation of submissions for VAT and equivalent sales taxes returns for all entities and branches in a timely and accurate manner.
• To oversee completion of monthly Intrastat reporting and EC sales lists for a portfolio of countries to HMRC and other local tax authorities.
• To oversee the statutory accounts process for all entities and branches, in accordance with the relevant accounting principles and the legislation of the countries in which they operate.
• To be responsible for the material flows across the business to ensure purchases are made in a tax efficient way highlighting any vagaries and suggesting more efficient practices if required.
• To be responsible for the calculation and posting of annual transfer pricing journals across a given set of countries ensuring that all local legislation is adhered to.
• To be responsible for leading on all external audits ensuring accurate information is provided and audited accounts are delivered in accordance with set deadlines
• To own and enhance the balance sheet reconciliation process across all entities
• To manage relationships with both internal and external auditors and tax advisers
• To drive FX policy and Treasury controls to manage risk
• To enhance working capital management of the Group with specific attention to stock, debtors and cash balances suggesting improvements on an as-needs basis
• Drive organizational and entity simplification to support growth in the business
• Manage the Internal Controls process and action plan implementation
• Management of the Financial Accountants
• To perform such other ad hoc responsibilities which may be required from time to time.
• To adhere to the principles of all Nomad Values, Health and Safety guidelines and Ethics practices

Qualifications & experience:

• 5+ years post qualification experience
• 3 + years’ experience in a senior finance manager role
• Financial accounting and relevant technical accounting knowledge and ability to apply to real-life situations
• Preferably trained in a big 4 firm (not essential)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
• Experience with an ERP system (NetSuite an advantage)
• Knowledge of financial reporting requirements and implications in other countries
• Experience of working with customers & suppliers (internal & external)
• Awareness of the provisions of the Data Protection Act and be able to apply these within the organization
• Professional qualification (ACA or ACCA), or equivalent
• Degree preferred
