Job summary

Grant Thornton in London/Reading is seeking a Financial Reporting Assistant Manager to lead technical accounting projects, including IFRS/UK GAAP work and group restructurings. The role involves managing projects, budgets, and risks, while building strong client relationships and mentoring junior staff.

Hybrid working with cross-functional collaboration across Transaction Services, Valuations and Tax. ACA/ICAS/CA/ACCA or CIPFA qualification and post-qualification experience are required.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification with post-qualification experience.
• Strong IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge; US GAAP helpful.
• Experience leading client relationships and audit portfolios.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects; coaching juniors.

Financial Reporting Assistant Manager

London or Reading – Hybrid working

Responsibilities

• Deliver projects focusing on the application of technical accounting, including GAAP conversions, preparation of financial statements, merger and acquisition activity, implementation support for new standards, group restructurings, and training – often working as part of cross‑functional teams including Transaction Services, Valuations and Tax.
• Manage projects independently or with another team member to ensure they are delivered on time.
• Control project timescales, budgets, and risk management procedures.
• Consistently meet deadlines and understand the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, gross margin, fee income and client service.
• Lead smaller assignments, taking responsibility for all aspects of planning, completion and review.
• Identify opportunities, prepare scope and quotes for small pieces of work.

Qualifications

Minimum criteria: a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA) with post‑qualification experience, confident managing a large portfolio of audit clients.

• Technical accounting experience and knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP. Knowledge of US GAAP and Companies Act considered favourable.
• Experience in leading and developing client relationships.
• Experience leading teams and managing projects.
• Experience coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
