Job Description:

Our client's financial reporting advisory team is seeking a manager to work on technical reviews of a portfolio of annual reports of publicly traded and other higher risk companies, working with the audit team to confirm compliance with financial reporting standards, company legislation, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Managers, Directors, and Partners within both the technical practice, the audit stream, and across the wider firm.
  • Maintain and encourage an open and constructive environment for technical support and advice.
  • Bring pre-existing technical knowledge and experience to the FRA team and contribute to all output areas.
  • Provide support and supervision to junior team members.

The individual will support the FRA Directors and Senior Managers, ultimately reporting to the firm's technical partner, and will be responsible for:

  • Providing clear and practical solutions to technical financial reporting queries in collaboration with Directors and Senior Managers.
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of internal financial reporting training, updates, and seminars.
  • Writing articles and materials on financial reporting for internal communications.
  • Monitoring external developments in financial reporting areas and developing action plans accordingly.

Requirements

This role is suited for individuals with experience in a technical department of a major accounting firm or auditors with strong technical aptitude seeking a technical role.

You will:

  • Be ACA/ICAS qualified or hold an overseas equivalent qualification.
  • Have experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in a technical team or relevant experience in financial reporting, including audit.
  • Preferably have insurance or asset management experience.
  • Have practical experience reviewing annual reports, especially for listed companies.
  • Possess knowledge of IFRSs, UK GAAP, and the Companies Act, and an understanding of the wider financial reporting environment.
  • Be capable of applying technical knowledge to complex issues.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships.
  • Be a team player and self-motivated.
  • Be proactive and motivated to develop their financial reporting skills.
