Job description

The Role: I am recruiting a Financial Planning Assistant (Client Relationship Manager) on behalf of Wealth Matters, a leading independent Financial Planning firm based in Luton (LU1). Working in a collaborative, fast-paced, and client-focused team, you will support the Financial Planners and Paraplanners with delivering an exceptional financial planning service to Wealth Matters clients. The Financial Planning Assistant (internally titled Client Relationship Manager) helps to maintain and develop client relationships, preparing for and arranging meetings for the Financial Planners, and actioning all tasks arising from these meetings, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within tight deadlines.

The Person: The successful Financial Planning Assistant (Client Relationship Manager) will be intelligent, eager to learn, adaptable, proactive, organized, and detail-oriented, with excellent relationship-building, customer service, and administrative skills. They will be articulate, analytical, and aspirational, keen to contribute significantly to the growth of a progressive and ambitious firm while feeling valued and rewarded for their efforts.

Salary and Benefits: GBP30-37,000 (depending on experience) + bonus based on individual and company performance + 26.5 days holiday + bank holidays + pension + hybrid working + support for professional exams (funded by the company, with salary increases upon passing each exam).

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting Financial Planners in delivering exceptional service to clients.
  • Developing client relationships, arranging meetings, and being the main contact for client queries.
  • Assisting with pre- and post-meeting preparations, including researching client arrangements, collating documents, producing compliant illustrations and forms, and completing actions such as fund switches, withdrawals, and policy assignments.
  • Processing new business applications and supporting documentation.
  • Contract administration of recommended products (pensions, ISAs, investments, bonds, protection, etc.).
  • Producing management information and maintaining client data on the back-office system.
  • Supporting general administration and development of standard operating procedures.

Skills and experience required:

  • Experience in a customer service support role within a professional services environment; financial advice experience is not essential as training will be provided.
  • Intelligent, ambitious, proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and customer service skills, tactful, trustworthy, diplomatic, and confidentiality-conscious.
  • Professional appearance, confident communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently, set goals, manage workflow, and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical, highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong administrative skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office and technologically adept.
  • A team player committed to contributing to the firm's success.
