Job summary

Recra Ltd, a high-end precision engineering business, is creating a Finance Director role to bring stronger financial insight, commercial challenge and structure to the next growth phase. You will work with the Managing Director and Operations Manager to understand where the business makes money, control costs and provide leadership across the finance function.

This is a hands-on role to build a finance function, lead ERP implementation, ensure robust reporting and act as a trusted partner

Qualifications

• Commercially minded finance leader with ability to set direction and dive into detail.
• Experience in precision engineering, manufacturing or production environments preferred.
• Strong knowledge of costing, margins, cash flow and financial controls.
• ERP implementation experience is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear management information, forecasts and cash flow visibility to the leadership team.
• Review margins, job costing, pricing and manufacturing costs to improve profitability.
• Establish budgets, track performance and maintain accountability for targets.
• Identify cost savings and process improvements without compromising quality or delivery.
• Lead the selection and implementation of an ERP system to provide reliable information.
• Review and streamline the accounts function, including controls and reporting.
• Oversee payroll and ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
• Partner with MD and Operations Manager to challenge and shape business decisions.
• Build a finance function and a capable team to support longer-term growth.

Finance Director

Our client is a high-end precision engineering business manufacturing components for a broad range of industry sectors. They are creating a Finance Director position to bring stronger financial insight, commercial challenge and structure to the next stage of the business.

Working closely with the Managing Director and Operations Manager, you will get under the skin of the numbers: understanding where the business makes money, where costs can be better controlled and what information the leadership team needs to make confident decisions. This is an opportunity to shape a new role and build a finance function that supports the business as it grows.

The role

You will take ownership of financial performance while working closely with operational colleagues to turn insight into action. Your priorities will include:

• Providing clear management information, forecasts and cash flow visibility to the leadership team.
• Reviewing margins, job costing, pricing and manufacturing costs to identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Working with managers across the business to establish budgets, track performance and maintain accountability for agreed targets.
• Identifying practical cost savings and process improvements without compromising quality or delivery.
• Leading the selection and implementation of an ERP system, ensuring it provides reliable financial and operational information.
• Reviewing and streamlining the accounts function, including processes, controls, reporting and team responsibilities.
• Overseeing payroll and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and statutory compliance.
• Acting as a trusted partner to the Managing Director and Operations Manager, bringing a fresh perspective and constructive challenge to business decisions.
• Building a financial strategy and a capable team that can support the company’s longer-term ambitions.

About you

You will be a commercially minded finance leader who is comfortable both setting direction and getting into the detail. You can explain the numbers clearly, ask the questions that matter and work with people across the business to make improvements stick.

Experience in precision engineering, manufacturing or another production environment would be particularly valuable. You should bring strong knowledge of costing, margins, cash flow and financial controls, alongside experience improving systems and processes. ERP implementation experience would be a significant advantage.
