A consultancy firm in the UK is seeking a Financial Crime Policy & Procedure Writer to develop and maintain policies related to KYC and AML. The ideal candidate has a strong background in financial crime compliance and excellent writing skills. This remote position offers £550-£650 per day and is an opportunity to shape critical compliance documentation.

We are currently looking for a Financial Crime Policy & Procedure Writer, you will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, and communicating clear, consistent, and practical policies, procedures, and technical documentation across the Financial Crime, KYC (Know Your Customer), and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) functions.
You will ensure documentation reflects current regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal standards, enabling teams to apply policies effectively while balancing compliance, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
Draft, update, and maintain clear, concise, and practical policies, procedures, manuals, and process documentation across KYC/AML/Financial Crime functions.
Translate complex regulatory and compliance requirements into accessible, actionable policies and operating procedures.
Stay up to date with relevant UK and international Financial Crime, KYC, AML, and Sanctions regulations.
Interpret new or updated regulations and advise stakeholders on how to integrate requirements into policies and procedures.
Work closely with teams across Operations, Product, Client Onboarding, etc to ensure documentation aligns with day-to-day processes.
Partner with Risk & Compliance to ensure policies meet internal standards and external regulatory obligations, while constructively challenging where appropriate.
Support training, QA, and audit teams with clear, accessible documentation.
Conduct regular reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and operational efficiency.
Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, evidence of adherence, and responses to queries.
Ensure version control, accessibility, and consistency of all documentation across the organisation.
Incorporate regulatory and internal policy changes into updated documentation, communicating changes to relevant teams.
Work with Product and Technology functions to ensure system and process changes are reflected in policies and procedures.
Have a strong understanding of financial crime compliance, KYC, AML, and sanctions regulations in the UK and/or other global jurisdictions.
Proven experience in policy, procedure, or technical writing within a financial services, fintech, or other regulated environment.
Skilled at interpreting regulatory requirements and turning them into clear, practical guidance for operational teams.
Have excellent written communication skills - able to write policies and procedures that are clear, logical, and user-friendly.
Detail-oriented, organised, and able to maintain version control across multiple documents.
Pragmatic, balancing regulatory compliance with operational efficiency and customer service.
Have prior experience in banking, fintech, or another FCA-regulated environment (preferred but not essential).
Are proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic about improving processes and strengthening Financial Crime risk management.
Professional qualifications in Compliance, Financial Crime, AML, or related areas (eg, ICA, ACAMS, CISI).
Experience supporting regulatory audits, reviews, or inspections.
Exposure to large-scale financial crime transformation projects or change initiatives.
Familiarity with documentation tools, knowledge management systems, or policy management platforms.
