Job Description:

A well-established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm. Responsibilities include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, and regulatory reporting, and producing commentary to support management and forecasting.

Main Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports
• Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies
• Analyzing financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and investigate variances
• Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations
• Completing all HMRC filings and returns, including corporation taxes and VAT, and liaising with group tax team and HMRC on enquiries
• Preparing formal year-end statutory accounts and coordinating external audit activities
• Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts to meet obligations
• Driving automation strategies to redesign manual processes, especially in financial operations
• Deputising for the Head of Finance as needed
• Handling regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements calculations and management under ICARA regime

Experience/Qualifications

Qualified accountant with extensive experience as a Financial Controller

Experience in team management

Analytical mindset, eager to tackle new challenges and improve processes

High accuracy and ability to meet strict deadlines

Academic qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA with at least 5 years of post-qualified experience
