Job Description:

A well-established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management division. Responsibilities include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, and regulatory reporting, and providing commentary to support management and forecasting.

Main Responsibilities:

• Managing daily finance operations with a team of two direct reports
• Performing accounting functions to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies
• Analyzing financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and reconciling balance sheets to ensure accuracy and investigate variances
• Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations
• Completing HMRC filings, including corporation taxes and VAT, and liaising with tax authorities and group tax team on inquiries
• Preparing year-end statutory accounts and coordinating external audits
• Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts
• Driving automation strategies to redesign manual processes, especially in financial operations
• Deputising for the Head of Finance as needed
• Handling regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements under the ICARA regime

Experience/Qualifications:

Qualified accountant with extensive experience as a Financial Controller

Experience in team management

Analytical mindset, eager to tackle new challenges and develop processes

Ability to work accurately and meet strict deadlines

Academic qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA with at least 5 years post-qualification experience
