Job Description:

A well established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm. Duties include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, regulatory reporting, and producing commentary to support management and forecasting.

Main Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports
• Performing all related accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies
• Analyzing financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and investigate variances
• Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations
• Completing HMRC filings and returns, including corporation taxes and VAT, liaising with group tax team and HMRC on enquiries
• Preparing formal year-end statutory accounts and coordinating external audit activities
• Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts to meet obligations
• Driving automation strategies to redesign manual processes in financial operations
• Deputizing for the Head of Finance as needed
• Handling regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements calculations and management under ICARA regime

Experience/Qualifications

Qualified accountant with strong experience as a Financial Controller.

Experience in team management.

Analytical mindset with enthusiasm for new challenges and process improvements.

High accuracy and ability to meet strict deadlines.

Academic qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
