Job Description:

A well-established banking institution is seeking a Financial Controller to join their Wealth and Asset Management arm. Duties include maintaining internal controls over financial, tax, and regulatory reporting, and producing commentary to support management and forecasting.

Main Responsibilities

• Managing day-to-day finance operations with a team of two direct reports.
• Performing all accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and company policies.
• Analyzing financial data, generating monthly trend reports, and reconciling balance sheets to ensure accuracy and investigate variances.
• Monitoring and managing financial risks in line with compliance and regulations.
• Completing HMRC filings and returns, including corporation taxes and VAT, and liaising with group tax team and HMRC on inquiries.
• Preparing formal year-end statutory accounts and coordinating external audits.
• Overseeing bank reconciliations and maintaining cash flow forecasts.
• Driving team’s automation strategy to redesign manual processes, especially in financial operations.
• Deputizing for the Head of Finance as needed.
• Handling regulatory reporting, liquidity, and capital requirements calculations and analysis under ICARA regime.

Experience/Qualifications

Qualified accountant with substantial experience as a Financial Controller.

Experience in team management.

Analytical mindset, eager to tackle new challenges and develop new processes.

Ability to work accurately and meet strict deadlines.

Academic qualifications: ACA/ACCA/CIMA, with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
