We're on the hunt for a commercially-savvy and technically strong Financial Controller to take the reins and help drive our journey to becoming best in class. This is a standout opportunity for a qualified finance professional ready to work side-by-side with the companies CFO, take ownership of core financial responsibilities, and play a pivotal leadership role with a growing Utility Contractor.

Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:
You'll be the linchpin of financial control and insight - shaping reporting, steering cash flow, and bringing clarity to the numbers that drive the business. Your key focus areas will include:

  • Delivering accurate, insightful monthly management accounts and board packs
  • Taking full ownership of the balance sheet with integrity and rigour
  • Leading the audit process and managing key relationships with auditors, banks, and insurers
  • Driving financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and modelling in collaboration with commercial, operations and procurement teams
  • Enhancing MI reporting to provide the business with data-driven decision-making power
  • Managing and mentoring a high-performing finance team, while continually refining systems and processes
Criteria of the Financial Controller:
  • ACA qualification (or equivalent) with a strong academic background (2:1 or higher)
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role within the construction sector
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and up-to-date with financial regulations
  • A track record in leading audits, managing banking relationships and delivering board-level MI
  • Strong Excel and modelling skills; ERP/reporting tools experience is a plus
