VisionFR is working on a great new role with an award-winning Strategic Communications Agency based in London. It is an SME agency of around 60 client-facing team members and a finance team of 4. The agency is undergoing rapid growth and is seeking a strong Financial Controller to join the team. The role will report directly to the CFO, focusing on improving financial processes and systems for scalability and high-quality financial reporting. It will involve close collaboration with client-facing teams on revenue, data analysis, and commercial support, as well as mentoring junior finance staff.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Management of the core finance function
  • Maintain the Paprika accounting system.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of cash flow, aged creditors, and debtors.
  • Manage month-end processes, including producing management accounts.
  • Oversee working capital, ensuring timely billing and payments.
  • Manage relationships with payroll, pension, and insurance providers.
  • Handle tax and statutory filings, including VAT and Companies House submissions.
  • Train and mentor the Accounts Assistant.
Working with the Wider Agency
  • Assist client teams with budgeting during pitches and fee reviews.
  • Compile staff timesheet data and prepare reports for resourcing and client analysis.
  • Coordinate with HR for onboarding, training, and registration processes.
  • Serve as the key contact for finance matters related to the African subsidiary.
  • Provide ad hoc financial support to Partners and senior managers.
Working with the CFO
  • Prepare financial budgets and reforecasts.
  • Manage relationships with banks and external auditors.
  • Develop understanding of the Paprika system and its benefits.
  • Develop and test new processes and systems to enhance efficiency and support growth.
  • Support international expansion, especially into Africa.
  • Contribute to revenue maximization and cost management initiatives.
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • CIMA/ACCA qualified or finalist.
  • Paprika experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Willingness to work in a high-growth, dynamic environment.
  • Self-starter with good task management and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Personable, collaborative team player with leadership qualities and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Experience working in an SME creative agency (PR, advertising, design, market research).
  • Availability for a quick start before the end of July.
