Who is the business?

Zanda is supporting a SaaS startup in Greater Manchester that's bootstrapped its way to annual revenues of over £2m. The business continues to build out their international customer base and product offering which has seen additional heads added across the sales, product and development teams.

This cross-functional team now seeks their first, full time finance hire; and a technically skilled Financial Controller or Head of Finance to join the business and build an insightful and scalable finance function. This role will play a crucial part in the business passing the relevant due diligence processes expected in future funding rounds and integrating possible acquisitions.

The ideal candidate will seek to enjoy a broad, hands-on role working with the business on a day to day basis to build the best commercial product offering possible.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the executive team to establish more effective processes and controls across all areas of financial operations.
• Help the development of, and adherence to, the company’s financial & accounting processes and policies to maintain a robust control framework.
• Create, manage, and report the company financial business model that will guide the company and be central to a future fundraising processes.
• Leading business budgeting and forecasting to support short, medium and long-term business and cashflow planning in collaboration with all key stakeholders.
• Provide the wider leadership team with support to achieve their objectives and collaborate to deliver business goals, such as detailed product and customer analytics and detailed working capital reviews.
• Ensure compliance with tax, payments, and licensing requirements.
• Summarize budget trends, analyse deficiencies, and report variances to executives.
• Manage tax preparation or liaise with external tax accountants.
• Play an ad-hoc key role in delivering proposals on commercial opportunities.

What background should you have before you press apply!

• Qualified Accountant (there is preference for ACA obtained within practice but CIMA, CPA or ACCA will be considered)
• Prior experience in a startup, scaleup or high growth SME is essential
• Previous experience in a similar Finance Manager or Financial Controller role establishing a finance function
• Ability to work in a fast-moving, dynamic environment while maintaining high-quality work with attention to detail
• Proven experience to practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques
• Solid knowledge of standard accountancy and finance best practices
• In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial forecasting
• Commercially minded with a hands-on, proactive approach
