Job summary

Hop Talent LTD is seeking an ambitious Financial Controller to own financial management and reporting across a growing London-based commercial property portfolio. This role is ideal for someone stepping up from Finance Manager, Senior Management Accountant, or Senior Property Accountant into a leadership position.

You will oversee monthly reporting, VAT, cash flow, and budgeting while partnering with senior management and clients to drive sound financial decision‑making and process improvements

• Experience leading month-end reporting and budgeting.
• Strong financial controls and process improvement.
• Experience with property/accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the financial management and control of a portfolio of London based commercial office properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.
• Prepare and review monthly and annual financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting and variance analysis.
• Review licence agreements, MOAs, OOAs and other contractual documentation to ensure billing, recoverable costs and financial processes are correctly applied.
• Oversee the monthly and quarterly billing process, ensuring sales invoices are raised accurately and in accordance with contractual terms.
• Maintain oversight of accounts payable, supplier invoices and payment runs, ensuring expenditure is appropriately authorised and aligned with agreed budgets.
• Review bank reconciliations and monthly cash movements, ensuring strong financial controls are maintained.
• Take ownership of the quarterly preparation and submission of VAT returns to HMRC.
• Monitor aged debt and arrears, working closely with credit control and operational teams to improve cash collection.
• Review and post journals including accruals, prepayments and other month‑end adjustments.
• Work closely with senior management to provide financial insight and support commercial decision‑making.
• Provide clear analysis of financial performance, highlighting key variances, risks and opportunities to senior management.
• Maintain accurate, robust and audit‑ready financial records and coordinate with internal and external auditors where required.
• Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed across the portfolio.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and processes, helping to increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
• Support budgeting and cash flow forecasting across the portfolio and provide financial input into wider business planning such as acquisitions and disposals
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, UK GAAP and internal financial controls.
• Act as a senior point of contact for finance‑related queries from clients, occupiers and internal stakeholders.
• Support the continued development of the finance function as the business and portfolio grow.
