Job description

Thanks to exciting growth opportunities, Lloyd BMW & MINI North Tyneside are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join their accounts team.

Your role will involve assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting the smooth operation of the accounts functions daily. You will ensure accurate accounting processes are maintained and manage ledgers for a clean month-end close.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Salary: up to £35,000

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure cash and bank reconciliations are completed accurately and financial records are maintained.
  2. Review vehicle debtors to ensure a clean month-end cut-off.
  3. Handle balance sheet reconciliations, including large manufacturer accounts.
  4. Review ledgers and collaborate with colleagues to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  5. Set up same-day and 3-day BACS bank payments for approval by the accountant.
  6. Assist with the wider month-end process, culminating in the production of accurate and timely management accounts.
  7. Manage accruals and prepayments for proper financial reporting.
  8. Oversee fixed asset ledgers, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  9. Assist with stock reconciliations (including physical stocktaking) and vehicle funding.
  10. Provide support, leadership, and guidance to Accounts Assistants and Vehicle Administration staff.
  11. Approve supplier invoices/statements and perform purchase ledger reconciliations.
  12. Assist with year-end audit and tax pack preparation.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Have proven experience in a similar role or demonstrate relevant abilities.
  2. Be proficient in month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
  3. Be familiar with accruals, prepayments, and managing fixed asset registers.
  4. Possess attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  5. Have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; competent in Word and Outlook.
  6. Be a strong communicator with a positive attitude and a desire to achieve.

Experience in the motor industry and knowledge of CDK Kerridge is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
