Job summary

eFinancialCareers in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to oversee governance and reporting for its UK operation. Based in Stockton with a hybrid pattern (2 days on site), you will report to the CFO and lead controllership, UK GAAP statutory reporting, and cash flow modelling, driving efficiency via cloud ERP and AI tools.

You will work across the group and acquisitions, own monthly/quarterly closes, manage audits, develop cash flow models, and partner with operations

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant.
• Experience in manufacturing or engineering sectors.
• Proven exposure to R&D environments.
• Experience as Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Expertise in UK GAAP (FRS 102) and statutory accounts.
• Strong cash flow and working capital modelling.

Responsibilities

• Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with balance sheet control.
• Drive R&D accounting and processes.
• Prepare statutory accounts under UK GAAP, manage external audits, and oversee tax submissions.
• Build short and long-term cash flow models for manufacturing, R&D, and group operations.
• Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
• Lead finance automation, ERP improvements, and digital transformation.
• Partner with operations on strategic analysis, reviews, and investments.
• Act as deputy to the CFO on routine finance activities.

Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Stockton (Hybrid, 2 days per week onsite)

Remuneration: Up to £75,000 per annum plus bonus, pension, and company specific benefits

Role Overview

An innovative organisation developing advanced equipment technology requires a hands on Financial Controller to manage financial governance and reporting fortheir UK operation. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee controllership, statutory reporting under UK GAAP, R&D and cash flow modelling while seeking to drive efficiencies through cloud ERP and AI tools. The position will sit across both the group and their latest acquisition with a clear growth and development plan.

The business are set to be one of the UK's fastest growing SME firms over the next 24 months and have already kicked off their venture with a number of acquisitions across the UK and US. Their products are seen as being 'the main market disruptor for years' within their chosen sector making this opportunity one that you do not want to miss.

Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

• Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while maintaining complete balance sheet control.
• Driving R&D processes.
• Preparation of statutory accounts under FRS 102 UK GAAP, manage external audits, and oversee tax submissions.
• Build integrated short and long term cash flow models covering manufacturing, R&D, and group operations.
• Oversee transaction processing across purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts.
• Implement finance automation, optimise ERP workflows, and deploy digital tools to enhance productivity.
• Partner with operational leaders on strategic analysis, commercial reviews, and investment decisions.
• Act as deputy to the CFO across routine finance function activities.

Requirements

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified accountant.
• Proven track record of working within the manufacturing or engineering sector.
• Strong exposure to and working knowledge of R&D environments.
• Prior experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Expertise in FRS 102 UK GAAP, statutory accounts preparation, and audit leadership.
• Advanced financial modelling skills focused on cash flow and working capital management.
• Experience driving finance automation, systems implementations, or digital transformation.
