Job summary

Zanda, a fast-growing consumer tech brand, is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller. You will own the monthly close end-to-end, prepare board narratives, oversee statutory reporting and tax, manage cash and working capital, and enhance AP operations while contributing to FP&A and AI-enabled finance processes.

This role reports to the Head of Financial Planning and Control with exposure to the CFO and CEO, and sits in Shoreditch with four days per week in the head office.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA
• Proven ownership of full management accounts close and board reporting cycle
• Experience in a DTC, subscription or fast-moving scale-up environment
• Strong technical accounting grounding across UK GAAP and IFRS

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close end-to-end for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow.
• Write Board pack narratives covering P&L, cash, KPIs, unit economics and acquisition performance.
• Develop forecasting models for retention, revenue, costs and cash flows with variance commentary.
• Gain expertise in customer retention trends and provide actionable insights on cancellations/reactivations.
• Own the annual statutory accounts process under FRS 102 and manage external audit.
• Lead international accounting, tax and compliance across subsidiaries.
• Oversee AP operations and improve AP visibility and control.
• Contribute to FP&A and financial modelling with an AI-first mindset.

Zanda is partnering with a fast-growing DTC subscription consumer brand that is expanding internationally and embedding AI-enabled ways of working across its data and finance processes. The business has a strong subscription model, real commercial traction and is at a meaningful point of change as it scales.

This is a hands-on Financial Controller seat reporting into the Head of Financial Planning and Control, with one direct report and regular exposure to the CFO and CEO. You will own the monthly close, Board pack narratives, statutory reporting, VAT, audit, cash and working capital, and AP operations, while also contributing to FP&A and financial modelling. The business is bringing AI into its finance processes and wants a Controller who is genuinely on board with that shift, not just tolerating it.

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN

• Owning the monthly management accounts close end-to-end, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reconciliation
• Writing Board pack narratives across P&L, cash, KPIs, unit economics and acquisition performance, with direct leadership exposure
• Building and maintaining forecasting models for retention, revenue, costs and cash flows, and translating outputs into clear variance commentary
• Developing expertise in customer retention trends and providing actionable insight on cancellations and reactivations
• Owning the annual statutory accounts process under FRS 102 and managing the external audit relationship

• Overseeing AP operations and driving improvements to AP visibility and control

ABOUT YOU

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Proven ownership of a full management accounts close and Board reporting cycle
• Background in a DTC, subscription or fast-moving scale-up environment
• Strong technical accounting grounding across UK GAAP and IFRS: lease accounting, revenue recognition, fixed assets and stock
• An AI-first mindset, comfortable adopting and working with AI tools in a finance context
