Job description

Rotheram Carrington Financial Recruitment are delighted to be working exclusively with a highly successful, rapidly expanding international business based in Cheshire, to recruit a Financial Controller for their European Operations with an on-target turnover of over £100m. A highly acquisitive business growing exponentially.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and technically minded finance professional to take ownership of the European finance function for a growing, multi-entity organisation. You will play a key role in the Statutory Reporting across multiple European countries. Have a very good understanding of VAT returns across several jurisdictions. You’ll be an integral part of the financial set-up and integration for pending acquisitions, ensuring a seamless transition and alignment with group standards, and someone who can support the business in laying the financial foundations for scalable growth. You’ll be a key bridge between the UK team, European operations, and group leadership, producing consolidated management accounts, strategic financial planning, and process improvements across the region. The role will also oversee a small transactional team and work closely with senior stakeholders to support decision-making at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the production of consolidated monthly management accounts

  • Analyse overheads vs budget and re-forecast, identifying opportunities for cost savings

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities

  • Manage the 12-week cash flow forecasting process (multi-currency)

  • Prepare year-end audit files and statutory schedules in line with group templates

  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process for European territories

  • Manage timely submission of EU VAT returns and support tax compliance

  • Work with internal departments and Directors to provide meaningful financial insight and reports

  • Drive the development of improved financial reporting tools and processes

  • Manage and mentor the transactional finance team

What We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role

  • Strong background in preparing consolidated accounts

  • Excellent Excel skills and good working knowledge of ERP systems

  • Experience in a stockholding business and knowledge of standard costing preferred

  • Confident communicator able to present financial information clearly to non-finance professionals

  • Logical, methodical, and proactive approach with strong commercial awareness

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with senior stakeholders

  • A hands-on team player who leads by example and supports team development

The Package:
  • Salary £70,000 – £80,000 per annum plus bonus

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Excellent benefits package

  • Hybrid working available (2 days WFH)

  • There is no travel required, perhaps one visit to their Ireland site
  • Opportunity to shape the finance function of a growing international business

This is a rare opportunity to make a real impact in a business with ambitious growth plans across Europe. If you’re looking for your next step in a dynamic, supportive, and rewarding environment, we’d love to hear from you.
