Job Description:

Our client is a highly respected financial services organisation (Mortgage & Savings). Due to a restructure, they are recruiting for an Interim Financial Controller for a 6-month period, with the possibility of a permanent role. The role requires immediate availability and involves working from their Head Office in the East Midlands on Mondays and Tuesdays, with Wed-Fri remote working. A handover period will be provided.

The Financial Controller will manage a team of 4 (including 2 direct reports) and oversee financial operations including treasury back office, accounts payable, payments, and reconciliations. Responsibilities also include evaluating financial risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, preparing financial statements, coordinating audits, and managing tax information supported by third parties.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month and year-end reporting processes, liaising with internal and external auditors.
• Control of the ALMIS system and treasury back office.
• Understand and sign off on regulatory returns (in the absence of the FD).
• Prepare financial reports for the Board and committees.
• Produce ICAAP and Recovery Plans during the contract period.
• Oversee FRS 102 reporting models, bad debt provisions, and hedge accounting.
• Ensure compliance with FRS102 changes, including lease accounting updates.

Requirements:

• Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years PQE.
• Experience in a PRA-regulated financial services firm, preferably a mortgage lender.
• Strong leadership skills for managing a team.
• Knowledge of PRA regulations, ICAAP, and ILAAP.
• Understanding of ALMIS treasury system.
• Proficiency in Excel and management information skills.
